Fork oil and air for a 1984 250R
« on: January 15, 2017, 06:01:25 AM »
Hello,
Looking for setails on the fork oil and air pressures for a 1984 250R. My forks seem spongy and I'm wondering if there were a test or any service that should be done regularly on the forks.

Thank you!

Joe,
The air pressure in the forks is supposed to be 1.4 to 7 psi. You can get a low pressure tire gauge to check the fork pressure at any auto parts store.

Also if you see obvious signs of oil leaking around the seals, you'll know you've got a problem before you even check the fork air pressure. Good Luck.

Thanks for the info on the 250R fork pressure... Next question on the forks, does anyone fill their 250R forks with nitrogen? I have heard that the fork suspension will work better and the seals will last longer if you use nitrogen instead of air. Any thoughts?
