How to test a CDI on an ATC 250R

Is there a procedure I can follow for checking or testing a CDI for an ATC 250R. The CDI is not mounted to the trike. It is a spare part that was given to me when I bought my 250R. I'm trying to weed out good spares from bad spares.

Are there certain ohm readings on certain wires? I'd appreciate any specifics on how to test a CDI on an ATC 250R.

Many Thanks!

From what I know of CDI boxes on my other machines, they are tough to test. A 250R CDI box is a capacitive discharge ignition engineered by Honda's best people. These boxes are considered black boxes, meaning nobody knows what the heck is happening in there.

Most troubleshooting guides on other ATV's will tell you to test everything in the ignition system, including the wiring. Once you have determined that everything else is good, they recommend you replace the CDI box, assuming this must be the problem.

In other words, you can't actually test it with an ohmmeter. If anyone else knows how to test a CDI on a 250R other than by process of elimination, please post the procedure here.
