Hello,
What kind of transmission oil do you use in a 1984 250R? Also how much goes in the transmission?

I just bought a 1984 250R in rough shape and I plan on doing some work to it. I'd like to get started so I can have it ready for the spring.

Thank You!

The 1984 ATC 250R holds about 1.2 quarts oil, You can use Honda 4 stroke oil or just plain old 10W-40 (type SE).

I've never heard of anyone getting better performance out of the Honda transmission oil but plenty of people will use nothing but Honda oil just because its got the Honda logo on it.

Thanks Red Rider,
Now I'm wondering why Honda would make the transmission big enough to hold 1.2 quarts of Honda oil instead of 1 qt. Probably so you'll have to buy two quarts? Oh well, thanks again!
